"It’s been years since I last cried to the wall behind me.
I wanted to talk about it…
I wanted to yell…I wanted to shout and scream my heart out...
But would anyone hear me? Would anyone care?
All I felt was nothing but the complete absence of sound.
The pain that chained me to the endless darkness I dwelt in for so long
Reminded me of how badly I wanted it all to end.
How do I end it though?
I’ve been standing for days in the hopeless rain…
Watching the dark sky fade away
Hoping the bright light will break free
And take me away to another place beyond this sorrowful, miserable life
But once again the empty void swallowed me
Leaving nothing but despair."
Too often, these words express how we feel in the depths of our minds. Too often, the world around us has us feeling hopeless. We’ve suffered through too many unimaginable unnecessary losses. It seems like every day has a new disease trying to wipe out the human race, and it gets overwhelming.
Why bother watching the news these days, when it's the same thing over and over again? Add the stress of work, family, relationships, and life itself, and it's a lot for most to handle. How do you cope and get through it all and resist the urge to throw in the towel and just call it quits?
There are ways to help make it through the pain, anxiety, depression, and loss of hope. Life doesn't have to end. We know there’s a lot on your plate, and here at AskUSPharmacist, we try to simplify things and make them make sense. Let us walk you through some of your options; let's get through this together.
If you feel there is nothing to live for, let us remind you that you are loved more than you know and more than you may feel. You matter; you are unique; you have worth in this world.
There are steps you can take. The first step is to reach out and get help - call a friend or family member you trust, call the suicide prevention hotline at 1-800-273-8255, call or text 988, and you can even call 911. It is never burdensome to call and talk to someone. And while most individuals who reach out to our online pharmacists each day are looking for advice regarding medications and pain symptoms, if you need help, we are here for you 24 hours a day, seven days a week.
Please don’t hide, and don’t put off seeking help another day. Reach out to a therapist or psychiatrist who can recommend treatments and coping strategies to help sort out your unmanageable feelings. Write your feelings down and try to see the flip side of how you're feeling. Create a plan of action that details your triggers and what to do when they appear.
Do not give up. You matter. Your life, dreams, and goals are important and invaluable to our world! Always remember, “this too shall pass,” and most importantly, You are Not Alone.
